Wolfenstein

Raven Software (Proprietary)

Wolfenstein is a first-person shooter video game developed by Raven Software and published by Activision. It is the follow-up to the Return Castle Wolfenstein game and was initially released on August 18, 2009. The player will again take on the role of B.J. Blazkowicz, a member of OSA (Office of Secret Actions). The storyline begins with the player ambushing a Nazi battleship where he will find a mysterious medallion that possesses supernatural abilities. After escaping the battleship and returning to OSA headquarters, Blazkowicz learns more about the medallion and the use of crystals called Nachtsonne. This eventually leads him to a quest to find out the Nazis real intentions.

The game has both single player and multiplayer modes. In the single player mode, the player will have to complete several levels to finish the campaign mode. Aside from the usual shooting mechanics found in the Wolfenstein series, a new component is added to this game – the Veil powers. These powers provide the player with a supernatural ability like projecting a shield and slowing down time. Players will also find gold, which can be used for buying upgrades. In the multiplayer mode, the Blazkowicz character is split into three classes. These are soldier, medic and engineer. Each class has their own set of Veil powers. Unlike in the single player mode, upgrades in multiplayer mode can only be used one at a time. Several game types are available in multiplayer mode as well including team deathmatch, deathmatch, stopwatch and objective game types. Players can also choose from 8 maps in the multiplayer mode.
