Windows Live Mail

Microsoft Corporation (Freeware)

Windows Live Mail is an email client developed by Microsoft. It was formerly called the Windows Live Mail Desktop and is part of the Windows Essentials suite. Aside from enabling users to manage their email accounts, the program suite also contains applications that enable users to write blog posts and publish them online. The email client also lets users manage their contact lists and calendar schedules even when they are not connected to the Internet.

Users who have multiple email accounts such as Gmail and Hotmail will be able to manage these directly from this email client, so there is no need to open a new browser or additional tabs. In detail, this program’s features are:

• Event reminders – this application has a built-in calendar that assists users in keeping track of schedules; users may also edit events to synchronize these with their Web calendar.
• Shared calendars – schedules and events may be shared with family and friends; users can also keep a calendar for family use. Children will be able to put in the dates for soccer or choir practice to remind parents.
• Offline access – the key feature of this application is providing its users with the ability to access read messages and saved calendar events when offline, or when users cannot connect to the Internet at the moment.
