WinArchiver is an archiving application used in managing, editing, creating, and opening archive files. Archives can be mounted to virtual drives without the need for extraction. The application is also able to extract archives and compress files. Archive formats that are supported include cab, 7z, zip, rar, gzip, tar, mzp, and iso, among others.
The program’s interface is intuitive and streamlined. File import is done via the drag and drop facility or the program’s file browser. Extended disc and ISO image files, mountable archives, and ZIP files can be created using the application. The program’s file list displays information such as file type, file name, file size, and file modification date. Archive properties information includes total files, total size, ratio, and packed size. Users can customize settings such as specifying compression levels, archive splitting into multiple volumes, enabling password protection, and incorporating comments. The program’s Configurations screen allows users to alter default viewer and temporary folder, create file associations, enable checkups for automatic updates and shell integration, specify virtual drives number, enable automatic mount and run of program at startup, and clear history of opened files. In addition, a small amount of system resources is used in running the program.
