The UltraFileSearch Installation file installs the file-search tool UltraFileSearch, or UFS. This allows the user to look for files in the computer system if the built-in search tools of the operating system cannot find said data. The search utility was developed for ease of use, thus the clean and basic graphical user interface. The search process with UFS eliminates the need for background indexing, and permits searches on FAT or NTFS file systems as long as these are supported by the computer’s OS. All kinds of drives, such as DVD, network, internal, and external drives are supported for file searches.
The interface has four tabs which can be used to initiate a search for a lost or hidden file. The application has the following tabs: Files and Folders, Attributes, Containing Text, and Date and Size. Clicking on these tabs provides the user with more options with which to refine search parameters and speed up the search process. The utility also has a Find in Results feature, allowing further searching within the main search results displayed.
Search results may be saved and exported in any of the following formats: HTML, XML, TXT, and CSV. Upon installation of the search program, a shortcut will automatically be placed on the system’s desktop.
