Tuner or AP Tuner is a small application that enables users to tune musical instruments using the computer. The application features Open Tunings for beginners and advanced users alike. The program displays a graph of the musical notes. The tuner can be customized to fit the user’s needs. The application provides users different tuning types. There are also presets included in the program. Some of the presets include Open E, power chords, high strung, done, and many others.

Tuner consists of pitch recognition technology that is capable of looking for the exact notes in less than a second. In addition, the recognition technology adjusts to the computer’s processor speed to achieve smooth tracking. The application can also be used with a microphone. Users can play an instrument and the program will automatically analyze the sound and will display the exact or nearest possible note to the note played.

The program has a simple and straightforward interface. The window consists of the tuning type window, the presets, and the notes. Advanced computer users can set the tuning on the Edit Tuning Settings window. Settings that can be changed include the middle A frequency, the temperament, transposition, and the stretch table. The note presets can be changed, too.
