Tcl Dev Kit 5.3.0

ActiveState Software Inc. (Shareware)

Tcl Dev Kit (TDK) is a toolkit used for creating, developing and  deploying professionally-made Tcl applications. The software was developed by ActiveState Software Inc., a software company headquartered in Vancouver, BC, Canada. TDK allows users to quickly deploy applications in any format into a wide array of platforms, and at the same time protect their code with the built-in compiler. The program’s user interface shows a myriad of program options, which allow programmers to take full advantage of the program’s features.

The latest release of TDK (5.3.0) enables users to make multi-architecture starkits. A Starkit is a packaging of Tcl scripts in a single file, application data, and compiled codes that are platform specific. It facilitates simple delivery of multi-platform applications. The name is derived from [ST]and[A]lone [R]untime.

The TclApp in TDK 5 has been improved to enhance cross-platform wrapping. This feature is for creating self-contained executables that do not require installation for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, HP-UX, AIX, and Solaris. Improvements can also be found in the toolkit’s Tcl Syntax Analyzer and TDK Checker to allow users better control options and outputs for syntax checking. These also recommend correct codes for the usual coding errors that users make.

Overall, TDK offers a flexible way to analyze Tcl applications.
