Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow

Ubisoft Shanghai (Proprietary)

Released in 2005, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow is a stealth action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Shanghai. The game follows the pursuits of Sam Fisher, an agent for a black-ops branch called “Third Echelon” of the National Security Agency. The setting is in Indonesia in the spring of 2006, when the US has put up a base in East Timor to train the latter's military forces in their struggle against Indonesian guerilla militia. The guerillas, led by Suhadi Sadono, along with major factions that resented American military presence in Indonesia, attacked and occupied the US embassy in Jakarta. Sam Fisher's assignment is to destroy top-secret documents kept in the embassy before they fall into the hands of Suhadi and his men.

A sequel to Ubisoft's original Splinter Cell stealth game, this release features improved animation, lighting, shadowing, physics, and sound effects compared to the previous game. The voice-over quality from popular Hollywood actors and elaborate set designs also contribute to the game's unique film-production quality. The developers also improved the gameplay by enabling players to choose from multiple paths rather than a fixed one for each playthrough. They also added a multiplayer mode where gamers can be split up into two teams - mercenaries and spies - with each possessing their own special abilities, gadgets, and limitations. Even the main character Sam Fisher is given upgrades, such as being able to climb with greater agility to avoid getting detected, and a move to bypass a door without being seen. He also gets new state-of-the-art devices, including motion sensors, new night-vision gear, sonar instruments, and high-tech fire modes for his weapons.
