Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri is a space-themed computer game wherein the player explores a new planet to find out all of its mysteries. In this game, the planet Chiron has a populace divided into seven factions, each with varying ideologies. It has become difficult for the factions to coexist with each other, with the story of the game beginning with planet-wide battles due to this.
Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri is played in a turn-based manner. This means players take turns in performing actions in the game. Players play the game in third-person view. This means the user can see the game environment, including the characters he controls. Players first build a base. This is where other structures are built. Some structures are used to train attacking units. Other structures build technology, or provide defenses for the base. To win a single-player game, the opponent and all his units must be wiped off the map. Another way to win is by getting at least ¾ of the other faction’s population. Squares make up the game’s main map. This is where players build the base, move the units, and battle opponents. Some squares can be modified in order to change their effect. Resources must also be collected. These resources are used to feed the player’s population, or to supply energy to the structures.
