Privatefirewall 7.0 is a personal firewall and host intrusion prevention software for Windows desktops and servers. A firewall is like a traffic enforcer. It checks everything that happens on the network and checks whether the data packets coming in should be allowed in. In this way, a firewall makes the network secure. This software integrates a number of protection methods, which can be customized in different set-ups.

The protection methods include an application manager, desktop firewall, a process monitor, tracking filtering, and port tracking. It protects the computer and the network from the dangers of malicious software, which includes Crimeware, Drive-by downloads, Keyloggers and Rootkits. Crimeware are malicious software that has the objective of extorting the user’s money or property. Drive-by Downloads are programs that sneak in when users are browsing the web. Keyloggers detects what the user types with the keyboard and can pull information such as passwords, bank account numbers, and credit card numbers. Rootkits, as per the name, inserts itself onto the computer without the user knowing it and can have maintained access to the user’s computer. Privatefirewall 7.0 has a user-friendly interface with an extensive explanation that helps novice users on understanding protection issues. The main menu offers two main functions, Internet Security and Network Security. Aside from explanations shown on the user interface, it also has a Help file, which provides more information to guide users on understanding how it detects the anomalies on the computer.
