In single player mode, the player participates in different challenges and races. The players also have the option to participate in multiplayer mode through a local network and Internet.

Ferrari F430, 550 Barchetta, F355 Spider, 328 GTS, and Superamerica are added to the lineup of fifteen vehicles that come from the original version of the game. The cars determine the player's level of difficulty. The speed of the vehicle increases as the level progresses. In addition, the handling of cars diminishes as the game becomes more difficult. The game offers different options for missions. Different mission types include racing with a rival, joining logic and memory-based challenges, and performing maneuvers as dictated by the “passenger” of the player. The player is also given the opportunity to customize the look of a vehicle. Currently, the online option for Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast has been discontinued.
