Norton Security Scan

Symantec Corporation (Freeware)

Norton Security Scan is a security application that protects the computer from threats. It searches the system for worms, spyware, viruses, malware, and other unwanted programs that can be a threat to the computer and the user’s privacy. The program does a weekly scan of the computer and looks at the existing files, running processes, and the other parts of the system. There are two types of scanning: Quick Scan and Full Scan. The Quick Scan checks the common places in the system where viruses reside, while the Full Scan checks all of the files contained in the system. The program can be used together with other installed anti-virus programs.

After completing the scan, Norton Security Scan displays the detected threats on the results window. Information about the threat can be viewed by clicking on the threat name. Afterwards, the detected threats can be removed from the computer.

By default, the security scan is done once a week. However, users can change the scan schedule by selecting a time and the days of the week to perform the scan. The program downloads the latest protection updates whenever they are available. The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to do this.
