NetAnimate is a network-monitoring tool. It is designed to help users monitor the network traffic in a computer. However, the program is also used as an indication of the network traffic. It is located in the system tray and its system tray icon provides a visual representation of the network adapters’ network traffic. Hovering the mouse on the icon displays the amount of bytes received and sent by the computer’s adapters.
NetAnimate also displays availability of Internet access for chosen network interfaces. Aside from availability, it can also display the name of the network interface, connection speed, and icon tooltip. The right-click context menu of the icon displays different configuration options for the program. These options include opening the computer’s Network Connections, Windows Firewall, and Network & Sharing Center. The program’s settings can also be accessed from the context menu. Available options include configuring the network interface, enabling/disabling the tray icon, configuring the icon set, showing Internet icon when there is Internet access, and more. Users also have the ability to add their own icon sets to the application. Available icons are located in the IconSets/NetAnimate folder. It supports .png format for icons. The settings window also offers options for setting up the autorun option, service packets ignoring, bytes rounding, and network activity indication.
