Neat Image is an application used for reducing the grain and noise on digital images. It fixes high ISO noise, JPEG artifacts, and film grains caused by scanners and prints. This is a standalone application, but a plugin for Photoshop and Aperture is also available. The application is simple and easy to use, even for novice computer users. Images can be added to the program by clicking on the “Open input image” button on the upper part of the window. The image will then appear on the work area. Users can use zoom in on the image to see the noise and grain up close.
The application analyzes the images and provides a filter process that makes the image clearer. There are built-in profiles and filters, which makes it easier to remove unwanted noise. Advanced computer users can also manually remove the noise or make their own profiles to use with other images in their collection. After manipulating the image, the program’s image quality level allows users to compare the image before and after the cleaning process.
Here are other features of the application:
• Smart sharpening for improving the sharpness of the photo without increasing the noise
• Users have control of the noise filters
• Wide variety of settings for fixing images
