Mystery P.I.: The New York Fortune is a hidden object game that was first released in 2009. In the game, the player assumes the role of a private investigator hired by a billionaire. The aim of the game is to find a hidden fortune in different locations before 17 hours is up. If the fortune is not found within the time frame, the client’s fortune goes to a dog and cat.
At each level, the player is presented with a list of items that can be found in the location. Finding each item rewards the player $5,000. Finding items fast will add additional $2,500. There is a limited amount of time to find all the items or a minimum number of items for each level. Hints can be used, but each hint deducts $7,500 from the money. Some of the locations featured in the game include Times Square, the Stock Exchange, a baseball stadium, the Bronx, a subway, and a night club.
Aside from the hidden object game, Mystery P.I.: The New York Fortune also features different mini games that can be played upon completing levels. There are also apples that can be found in the locations. Finding the apple in every location unlocks the unlimited game mode.
