Martin Renold (Open Source)

MyPaint is a raster graphics editor program that is used by digital painters. The application can be used with pressure sensitive graphic tablets. The program comes with a wide selection of brushes for imitating real media. Some of the brushes are pencil, charcoal, watercolor, ink, texture, experimental, painting, etc. The application comes with a configurable brush engine that allows users to create new brushes and experiment with the effects. MyPaint also has several brush settings. Users can set the opacity, hardness, radius, gamma, etc.

The program’s interface is simple and easy to use. There are no complicated menus and options so even novice computer users will be able to use the application. The program is best used with a graphic tablet as it supports pressure, which adds to the realistic painting effect. The program also has an advanced color selector that shows the color history, details, and harmonies of the colors. Users can also add brushes to the favorites tab for easy access.

Other features of the application include the following:
• Global pressure mapping
• Easy to use graphic user interface
• Extensive configuration options
• Basic layer support
• Unlimited canvas size

MyPaint has an online tutorial that can be viewed on the program’s official website.
