MPlayer - The Movie Player 1.1

MPlayer (Freeware)

Mplayer, formerly called The Movie Player, is a media player that supports a wide variety of file formats including MPEG, OGG, WMA, WMV, MP4, and more. It was first released in 2000. Users do not need to download and install additional codecs as the application comes with more than 150 video codecs and over 80 audio codecs for instant playback. The software also has a built-in detection tool that scans the computer’s CPU in order to achieve maximum performance when using the media player.

Mplayer’s interface consists of a menu bar located at the top of the window and the player toolbar that can be found at the bottom part of the window. The player toolbar has command buttons (play, pause, stop, fast forward, and rewind) and also a volume control. Users also have the option to watch videos in compact mode or in full screen mode. On the Options window, users can select the sound output driver to use, the aspect ratio, language, and other media player settings. These settings can be saved so that users can use the same settings for every video played with the MPlayer program.

Other main features of the application are the following:
• Simple and easy to use interface
• Supports all popular video and audio file formats
• Support for multi-language Unicode
