Monopoly is the computer-version of the Monopoly board game first released on September 19, 2012. It was developed by PopCap Games and published by WildTangent, Inc. The goal is to be the richest player at the end of the game through renting, buying, trading, and selling of properties.
Game mechanics are similar to the original board game version. The player may choose to play in a single player game or in a multiplayer game. In a single player game, the player competes with an AI player. The player may choose to play against one to three players. The game’s level of difficulty can be adjusted from very easy to difficult. At the start of the game, the player chooses the token to be used. The game is played by taking turns in rolling the dice to move around the board. Depending on the space the player lands in, the player may need to pay for rent or buy property. Other elements in the game include free parking, and a jail where a player loses a turn and needs to bail out. There is also the chance and community chest, where players must follow the instructions in the card. The content of the card may either help or hinder the player in the game. The game also offers a Teacher Mode, which provides help about the basics of the game.
