Medusa 3D Stereo

NVIDIA (Freeware)

Medusa 3D Stereo, or Medusa Stereoscopic 3D Demo, is an application developed by NVIDIA to show users the capabilities of their GeForce GTX 200 Series of graphical processing units, or GPUs. The demo app is the company’s interpretation of the mythical Medusa, a woman with a head of snakes who turns her victims into stone by simply looking at them. In NVIDIA’s interpretation, Medusa first appears as an enticing woman holding a large green gem. The warrior is entranced by both her and the gem, and as he looks admiringly at the glowing gem, Medusa uses her snakes to capture the warrior and turn him to stone. The warrior’s soul is absorbed into the gem, and Medusa transforms into her real monstrous appearance.

Medusa 3D Stereo functions as the sample video users can watch on their devices that have been installed with a GeForce GTX 200 Series GPU. This application has been optimized for use with the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision technology and is meant to be watched with 3D glasses. 3D Vision is NVIDIA’s stereoscopic gaming kit that includes the driver software (including the Medusa demo) and shutter glasses that enable users to play Direct3D games. The driver also installs the NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer. When viewed in full screen, the image is shown in 3D mode; when the user exits the full screen mode, the image is shown in a side-by-side view of the two frames, one for the left eye and one for the right.
