Hugin is a panorama photo stitching program that was first released in 2003. Panorama photos can be created by using photos that are taken from the same location. The photos to be used for the panorama should have overlapping areas in order for the program to stitch them together. Users can choose the photos to be included in the panorama. There are control points where users can set the photos to be stitched side by side. The program will then look for the best way to stitch the photos together seamlessly.
One of the features of the Hugin application is the Optimizer. This tool automatically fixes the displacements on the photo. Users can run the optimizer several times until the panorama is perfect. The program’s main window consists of tabs for the tasks that can be done with the application. Some of the tabs are Assistant, Images, Crop, Control Points, Exposure, Optimizer, and the Stitcher. When working on a project, the user can see a preview of the photo in the Fast Panorama preview window.
Other features of the Hugin application are the following:
• Support for stitching large mosaics
• Output for several projection types
• Support for HDR stitching
• Correct panorama images
• Advanced photometric corrections
