Supported partition types are FAT, FAT32, and NTFS. USB drives which are previously formatted using one partition type maybe reformatted without trouble with another file system. HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool can even create bootable USB drives by providing a specific file location.

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool sports a simple user interface. From the top, Device option features a drop down list of available USB devices that are currently connected to the system. File system option features a drop down list of applicable file systems. Volume label has an input box where the user may type in a desired name for the USB drive. Format options features tick boxes for Quick Format and Enable Compression. HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool users may also create a DOS Startup Disk using this tool. In order to create a bootable disc, the user can choose whether to use internal MS-DOS system files or specify a folder where the DOS system files are located. The lower panel features the status bar to inform users of the status of the format process. Below that are two buttons for Start and Close. After format, make sure to safely remove the drive to avoid corrupted file formats.
