Guitar Hero: World Tour is a simulation game that was first released in 2008. It is the 4th release in the Guitar Hero franchise. In the game, players simulate playing a guitar while racking up points to see who can be the ultimate guitar hero. In this game, additional controllers are added for a microphone and a drum set. Up to four players are allowed in the game. Each player must hit notes accurately in order to get points and raise the Rock Meter. The song ends abruptly if the Rock Meter is emptied out.
The game features popular rock songs from different artists, such as Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Van Halen, Metallica, and Jimi Hendrix. Players can download additional songs to be included in the roster of songs that can be played. There are four difficultly modes ranging from easy to expert. Players can choose career mode (single-player) or band career mode (two or more players).
Players are free to create their own characters in Create-a-Rocker. Some of the things that can be changed are clothes, makeup, poise, and age. Guitars can be created, too. Aside from player-created characters, the game also features avatars of rock stars including Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, and Travis Barker of Blink 182.
