Grandia Online is an online free-to-play Japanese MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing game). It is a part of the Grandia game series. It uses the BigWorld Technology Suite for rendering its virtual world and uses music from Noriyuki Iwadare. Its gameplay takes place before the “Age of Genesis,” an era of exploration and adventure. Gamers can choose and create their characters from one of the three races: Humans, Coltas, and Ralgas.
Player-made characters are controlled from a third-person point of view. Grandia has its own chat system and a player mini-map for navigation. A player can interact with NPCs (Non-Player Characters) found throughout the game. These NPCs provide the game with a storyline and quests. Players can have computer-controlled partners that are customizable. Players can also group together to organize a party.
Grandia Online’s combat system has many similarities to the previous games in its series. It includes a gauge that contains character and enemy icons. This gauge is used for obtaining combo points to create combination attacks. It also has special combat abilities that players can learn. Defeating an enemy will reward the player experience points. These points are used to advance to the next player levels.
On September 28, 2012, the game was discontinued.
