Driver Magician is a program for backing up and restoring device drivers in a computer. The application works by detecting all the hardware installed in the system and extracting the drivers to be backed-up in a location set by the user. The application is useful when reformatting or upgrading the operating system. The backed up drivers can easily be restored from the backup location. The software has a built-in database that consists of the latest updates for popular drivers.

Driver Magician has a driver auto-installation wizard. The tool displays all the system’s drivers including information, such as the provider, driver description, class, version, and date. Using this wizard, users can select the drivers to backup. The program’s main interface is divided into six sections. These are Back Up Drivers, Restore Drivers, Update Drivers, Uninstall Drivers, LiveUpdate, and Options. The options window enables users to set the type of back up to be done. Driver Magician offers four driver backup modes:

• Back up to folder
• Back up to a compressed file (zip)
• Back up to a self-extracting file (exe)
• Back up to auto-setup package (exe)

The compression level for the backups can also be set under the Options window.
