ConTEXT is a freeware text editor developed by ConTEXT Project and released in 2010. This text editor is highly useful for software developers. It comes in a desktop installable version, as well as a portable version that may be saved on any USB storage drive, enabling the user to use it on any computer. This program enables users to open an unlimited number of files simultaneously. This program also supports file editing for an unlimited file size, featuring a 4kb line length.

ConTEXT also features syntax highlighting for several programming languages including C++, Java, Visual Basic, Perl, HTML, and CSS. Other languages supported include Python, XML, PHP, Fortran, Foxpro, and InnoSetup. It also features custom defined syntax highlighter. This program also features project workspaces support and UTF8 support. It also comes with integrated code templates to assist users, as well as Help files customized for different file types.

ConTEXT features a File Explorer functionality including a favorites list. It also features File Compare as well as file exporting support. Exported files may be in two different file formats —HTML or RTF. This program also features file format conversion across different operating systems. It also features a macro recorder. It offers some editing functions including code commenting, text sort, columnar or normal text selection, and bookmarking. This program also supports search and replace functions within a file or across all open files.
