Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark

Techland (Shareware)

The Call of Juarez, formerly known as Lawman, is a first-person shooting game. It was released in 2006 and developed by Techland. The game has several sequels including Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The game allows the player to assume alternating roles between two protagonists: Reverend Ray McCall and Billy Candle. The game begins with a narrator telling the story of the “Gold of Juarez.” The gold, which became cursed, was a lost treasure that many have tried to find to no avail. McCall and Candle unwittingly opposed each other at first, but in the end, they develop a friendship that will help them fulfill their destiny.

In playing Candle, the player can make use of weapons like the whip as well as the bow and arrow. The whip is useful for handling enemies including wolves and snakes. It is also handy for swinging across chasms using branches of tall trees. Whenever Candle employs the bow and arrow, the game speed slows down to let him make precise aims at his targets. McCall, on the other hand, is usually armed with a gun or two and a Bible. The player can make McCall quote a Bible verse by pressing the shoot button for the hand that carries the Bible.

It is up to the player to utilize the characters’ special abilities in order to advance in the game.
