The Co-Op mode features a new mode called Survival mode, wherein one to two players will fight infinite enemy waves. Its level of difficulty increases as the wave increases. The Special Ops is also available in the Co-Op game, which features up to 48 stars.
Unlike the Modern Warfare 2, the multiplayer mode has the dedicated server support for creating mods and user-created maps. The killstreak available in MW2 is now called Pointstreaks. Players can now increase their Poinstreaks based on their kills and completed objectives. These Pointstreaks are categorized into three – Support, Assault and Specialist. Like its predecessors, there are different game types available in the multiplayer mode including Search & Destroy, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and more. New game types are also available including Team Defender and Kill Confirmed. This game mode also features a modified Unlocks and Ranking system.
