CA Anti-Spyware Application

CA, Inc. (Proprietary)

CA Anti-Spyware, also called Total Defense Anti-Virus, is an application used for protecting the computer from threats, such as spyware and malware. It scans the system and gets rid of the unwanted items so that the computer can run in top condition. The program has a simple and intuitive user interface, which makes it ideal to use for novice computer users and advanced users alike. The main window provides an overview of the system’s state. There are four task buttons located on the left side of the main window. These task buttons are Overview, Quarantine, Options, and Reports.

This application can perform two types of scans, namely the Quick Scan and the Custom Scan options. In Quick Scan, the application looks for threats in common locations in the computer, while the Custom Scan option allows users to choose folders and files to be scanned by the application. After scanning the computer, a results window will be shown. The results display the name of the spyware, its threat level, category, and the suggested action. Users can delete the threat from the computer by clicking on the “Remove Spyware” button, which is located at the bottom right corner of the window. The program keeps a log file of the quarantined items so users can access it later for reference.
