Batman: Arkham City is an action-adventure video game released in 2011. The game is based on DC Comic’s Batman and is a sequel to the game Batman: Arkham Asylum. In the game, Batman is kept prisoner in Arkham City, a maximum-security prison that includes a part of Gotham City. Hugo Strange, the man behind Batman’s incarceration, is also the one responsible for Protocol 10, which is a method for controlling criminals housed in Arkham City. Batman must uncover Strange’s secret while defending inmates from notorious criminals.
Although the game is action-adventure, it also incorporates some puzzle elements. The game consists of brawls and stealth tactics, as well as forensic investigation. The player can also view a criminal database for tracking investigations in the city. Players control Batman and must complete missions around the city. In addition to the main mission, players are also presented with other missions that feature different characters. These additional missions reveal more about the character’s story.
