Audiosurf is a rhythm game that was first released in 2008. In the game, the player controls a vehicle along a highway. The blocks must be collected in order to gain points for the level. Points can also be garnered by matching three blocks having the same color. Players have the option to choose one of the 14 available characters. The characters have three different difficulty levels. The vehicle can be controlled with the arrow keys on the keyboard or by using a mouse.

Audiosurf allows users to play using their own music collection. The speed of the vehicle and the shape of the highway is dependent on the type of music played. The game supports the use of songs in different audio formats, such as WMA, MP3, M4A, and audio tracks from discs. Players can also get more points for getting achievements during the game. At the end of the song, the player can get a bronze, silver, or gold medal.

Other features of the game are the following:

• The Orange Box soundtrack included in the song track list
• Players can track their progress through Steam Achievements
• The player’s score can be uploaded to the online scoreboards
