Audacity Portable is an audio editing program that can be run from any supported removable device (i.e. iPod, USB flash drive, portable hard drive, etc.) keeping the windows registry intact. Audacity Portable requires no installation allowing users to run the program and modify its settings on a removable device without changing the settings of the installed Audacity on a computer.
Audacity Portable features Recording tools. It can be used to record from different supported sources. It can also do dubbing over existing audio tracks for multi-track recordings. The program also features a Level Meter tool. This tool is used for monitoring the level of the volume, during, before, and after the recording. Importing and exporting different types of audio formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg, Vorbis and AU files.
As for editing audio tracks, Audacity Portable offers tools for cutting, copying, pasting, and deleting audio files. It also has unlimited “undo” and “redo” buttons. Users may also change individual sample points using the program’s Drawing Tool. Adding audio effects is possible as well. Pitch can be adjusted without changing the audio’s tempo. The program is also capable of removing hiss, static or other disturbing background noises. It also offers tools for Analysis including Spectrogram Mode and Plot Spectrum.
