Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first-person survival action horror game that brings the player inside a Prussian castle during the 19th century. The player assumes the role of Daniel, a man who wakes up in the castle with no recollection of who he is and how he got there. Finding the answers usually leads the player into more mysteries and horror-filled encounters.
The gameplay of Amnesia: The Dark Descent focuses on solving puzzles, uncovering secrets, and avoiding creatures of the dark. The monsters that Daniel encounters can make him lose his sanity and thus need to be avoided at all times. The process of controlling Daniel’s fear is a major factor in pushing the gameplay forward. Some notable features of the game include:
• An immersive Gothic environment
• Realistic sound effects
• Hours of gameplay
This game was created by the same team that created the Penumbra survival horror game series. The free demo of Amnesia comes with three chapters – the Rainy Hall, the Refinery and the Cellar Archives. The demo ends when the user reaches the Cellar Archive level, where Kaernk creatures wait on the other side of the door. Other levels are available in the full version of the game.
