ALZip is an archiving and compression tool that was first released in 1999. The program is able to unzip 40 different kinds of file archives including LHA, MIM, JAR, 7Z, ZIP, and many more. It is also capable of zipping files into eight types of archives. The program has a Peek feature. This allows users to take a look at a preview of the files that are inside an archive. Other options include attaching archives to emails after compressing, and search tools for finding certain files. Novice computer users can use the program as zipping and unzipping files can be done in three mouse clicks.

With the ALZip program, users can create protected zip files with by setting a password using AES-128 bit or AES-256 bit encryption. This ensures protection when sending important files. Advanced computer users also have several options when using the program. These include restoring corrupted files, spanning a zip file into zip files, merging files into one, and checking for viruses using an existing anti-virus application that is installed in the computer.
