Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 is the fourth generation of the Premiere Pro application. Adobe Systems officially released this version on September 23, 2008. This program is used for editing video files in a timeline-based manner. It is part of Adobe CS4 Master Collection and CS4 Production Premium. Aside from Premiere Pro, the program also includes Adobe Device Central CS4, Adobe Encore CS4, Adobe Bridge CS4, and Adobe OnLocation CS4.

Premiere Pro CS4 provides several changes in the program including the following:

• Support for Tapeless Camera – This new feature provides users with the ability to perform direct-to-disk recording. The program supports multiple video formats such as DV and HD.
• Batch Encoding – The CS4 version of Premiere Pro provides a feature for encoding several files simultaneously. This is made possible through the Media Encoder included in the program. The Device Central application, also included in the program, offers a function to encode videos for mobile devices.
• Improved Editing Functions – Premiere Pro CS4 offers several enhancements on the program including improvements on clips, sequences, and projects. New tools and controls have also been added to provide users more control in the editing process. Other enhancements have also been added for audio control and timecode display.
• Support for XMP Metadata – This new feature provides users with the ability to add metadata related to every shot taken.

Aside from these features, Premiere Pro CS4 also offers Speech Search feature, BluRay Disk output support, and Creative Pro Online Services.
