Active@ Hard Disk Monitor is an application for checking and monitoring the user’s hard disk status. The program displays hard disk information that includes bad sectors, temperature status, and head flying height that can alert the user on critical conditions within the system. The program can create an events log and S.M.A.R.T reports for evaluation by the user. This is aside from the standard hard disk data such as the serial and model numbers, the number of cylinders, total capacity, file systems in use, the amount of used space, and the like.
Active @ Hard Disk Monitor can be automatically launched at startup to begin monitoring of hard disks. The program’s info window displays the internal values of the hard disk and can predict an oncoming disk failure or display the system’s current healthy values placed side by side with the worst and present disk status. (Each can be clicked on to get some description and explanation.) The utility also presents bad blocks, which the user can opt to recover, with several settings for changes including automation commands. Another section presents temperature history, its variations (by the hour or by day) side by side with preset critical and warning level thresholds for evaluation and comparison.
