AbiWord is an open source word processor released in 1998. The program consists of basic word-processing features like character formatting, lists, and indentations. The software also supports several languages and the text can be viewed from right to left, left to right, or in mixed mode.

AbiWord is a multi-platform word processor and is compatible with Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, Solaris, and QNX. The program was supposed to a component included in AbiSuite, but it was changed to open source.
