Spybot - Search & Destroy 2.1

Safer Networking Limited (Freeware)

Spybot Search & Destroy is an adware and spyware removal application developed by Safer Networking Limited. It runs through the computer’s hard disk and/or RAM to search and remove for any malicious software. The program is written by Patrick Michael Kolla and was initially developed in 2000. Aside from detecting and disinfecting spyware and adware, Spybot S&D can also repair winsock LSPs, registry, PUPS, browser hijackers, ActiveX objects, keyloggers, tracks and other types of malware. Users can also use this program to delete tracking cookies.

Spybot Search & Destroy features Immunize function. This function is used to prevent the installation of any spyware before it infects the computer. A second layer of defense, called Resident SDHElper, is available to protect users from installing possible malicious software. It blocks badware that tries to infiltrate your computer using a different way. The program also includes a secure file delete and a TeaTimer module. The TeaTimer module can be enabled optionally. It provides real-time protection against unexpected and unwanted changes in the registry by alerting the user if changes to the registry are being done. The user has the option to approve or disapprove the changes. The TeaTimer module offers three options to the users: Automatically Kill the Process, Generally Allow the Process to Run and Be Informed When the Process Tries to Start Again.
