SMPlayer 0.8.6

Ricardo Villalba (Freeware)

SMPlayer is a multimedia player that was initially released in 2006. The program supports popular audio and video formats, as well as those that are seldom used. One of the key features of the program is that it remembers the settings for all the media files that are played. This includes the point where the file was interrupted, the audio and video settings, the volume, subtitles, and more. Users can also configure the look of the subtitles by choosing the font, font size, and the color of the text. There’s also an option for searching for subtitles on opensubtitles.org if subtitles are not available.

SMPlayer has filters that include post processing, de-interlace, karaoke filter (voice removal), as well as a video equalizer for controlling the saturation, hue, and brightness of the video. The player’s toolbar can be customized with the toolbar editor that comes with the program. Users can include/remove buttons on the toolbar.

Other features of the program include the following:
Audio track switching (.avi, .mkv, and DVDs)
Going backwards or forwards in the video with the mouse wheel
Audio and subtitles delay adjustment for synchronizing the audio and the subtitles
Playlist support with auto repeat and shuffle
Multiple speed playback
