Native Instruments Artist Grooves

Native Instruments Software Synthesis GmbH (Proprietary)

Best Service Artist Grooves is a sound library that is based and built on the Native Instruments Intakt platform. The program uses Virtual Studio Technology or VST, developed by Steinberg. VSTs are not usually made to be standalone programs. They are meant to run within, and supplement the functions of a DAW or Digital Audio Workstation. It is classified as a VSTi or VST Instrument. What this means is that the users can “play” or emulate playing a certain instrument via MIDI controllers or the computer keyboard. MIDI is short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and has been the standard protocol for inter-device connections for electronic music gear since the early 1980s.

As the program is a VSTi, and is meant to run inside a DAW, that means the user is given control over a virtual instrument. The virtual instrument in this case, is the drums. The user is given control over hundreds of beautifully sampled drum kits and cymbals. The samples are great for use in pop and rock songs and even jazz songs. It isn’t called Artist Grooves for nothing, either. The VSTi is loaded with MIDI grooves from drummers such as Simon Philips, Mel Gaynor, Kenny Aronoff, and Dennis Chambers.
