NHL12 is a computer game that focuses on ice hockey. With this game, users can experience playing professional hockey from their computers. It includes seven pro hockey leagues: Elitserien, Czech Extraliga, American Hockey League, SM-Iiga, National League A, Deutsche Eishockey Liga, The Canadian Hockey League’s Junior leagues are also included, namely the Western Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and the Ontario Hockey League.

The game makes use of a full-contact physics engine that allows for realistic gameplay, such as being able to knock players off the ice and into the bench.  It also features and anticipation A.I. that lets players anticipate the flow of the play. A simulation engine and action tracker lets players take full control of their team. The Sports Action Tracker enables players to track the events that happen on the ice so they can view replays and determine where they can improve their game.

One of the interesting features of the game is the goalie’s ability to drop their gloves. Players can make their goalies remove their gloves, leave their post by the net, and trade punches with a rival during fights. The game also features the NHL Winter Classic, the hockey league’s most popular outdoor hockey event held every New Year’s Day.
