Kubrick (3-D Game based on Rubik's Cube)

KDE (Open Source)

Kubrick (3-D Game based on Rubik's Cube) is a computer game based on the Rubik’s Cube puzzle game. This game enables users to choose the size of the cube from a range of 2x2x2, 3x3x3, and even up to 6x6x6. The game also enables users to play with “mats” which are two-dimensional versions of the game with the size of 2x2x1 or 6x4x1. The regular Rubik’s Cube type of games is called “bricks” as compared to “mats.” Players may also play with irregular types of bricks including one with dimensions of 5x3x2. Game levels range from easy to very hard. The game also features a cube editor that enables users to create their own puzzles.

Kubrick (3-D Game based on Rubik's Cube) requires the players to arrange and reorder the different colored boxes. The goal is arrange the boxes in such a way that each face of the brick only has one color. Each brick is divided into three slices vertically and horizontally. Players may reorder the faces by rotating the boxes on its axis, whether the horizontal axis or the vertical axis. Square slices such as those found in regular shaped bricks rotate by 90 degrees. However, for irregular bricks, rotation around the axis is by 180 degrees. The game ends only when the all of the faces of the cube are of one color.
