MasterWriter is a suite that consists of several tools for songwriting, creative writing, and poetry writing. It comes with a dictionary that aids users in looking for the right words to use for their writing. The main user interface consists of tools that are located at the upper portion of the window. Some of these tools include songs, phrases, thesaurus, word families, parts of speech, and notes among others. When a category is selected, more tools appear at the upper portion of the window.

The bottom part of the window is the text area where users can start writing. It works just like a standard word processor where users have the ability to change the font, font size, font style, and font colors. In addition, MasterWriter comes with a recorder that allows users to write their own music straight from the interface.

The program also comes with a variety of Preferences that can change the way the program behaves. Some of the Preferences available are for audio, shutdown, song guard, the word viewer, and word families. The program can be used by both beginners and professional writers. MasterWriter also comes with a comprehensive help file that consists of topics on how to use the different features of the application.
