The Sims 2: Nightlife is the second expansion pack for the life simulation game The Sims 2. The expansion pack was first released in 2005. The main feature of the expansion pack is the downtown area that features various locations where Sims can sing karaoke, go dancing, play bowling, and have dates. Downtown is added to each of the neighborhoods in the game upon installing the expansion pack. The area consists of restaurants, shops, and nightclubs. Sims can go on a date and play the dating mini game. When Sims go on a date, a date meter appears on the screen. Players can then perform social interactions in order to increase or decrease the score on the date meter. Sims may get gifts for a successful date.

The Sims 2: Nightlife is the first expansion pack that allows Sims to drive private cars. There are five cars included in the game. Sims can take their children to school, cruise around the neighborhood, and go to work using their own cars.

The expansion pack also introduces a vampire character. Vampires are present in the game; however, they only come out at night. Sims can also turn into a vampire after being bitten by one. Vampires have fangs, very pale skin, and red eyes. In addition, they can turn into a bat. They are more active during the nighttime and their needs decay faster during the day. Sims who want to cure their vampirism can do so by drinking a potion.
