Vectorworks is a CAD and BIM software suite developed by Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. CAD stands from Computer-Aided Design, while BIM stands from Building Information Modeling. The program is used for 3D modeling, technical drawing, and drafting. The program features a complete solution for the design process, including production management, 2D, 3D, and presentation. Vectorworks has several versions to answer the consumer’s needs including Vectorworks Architect, Vectorworks Designer, Vectorworks Landmark, Vectorworks Spotlight, Vectorworks Fundamentals, and Renderworks. It offers a one-step taper tool for 3D objects, as well as a Twist tool to move 3D objects on its axis. The program features support for rotated plans and 3D viewing. Vectorworks also provides better BIM functions including the option to flatten design layers, create section viewports, make shaped windows, make annotations, and create vision door panels. The program also offers Lighting functions including the capability to configure Lighting device improvements, create lighting layouts, make seating layout improvements, and assign select focused lighting devices. The program features export support for a variety of file formats including PDF, DXF, DWG, and DWF files.
