The Sims 2: Pets, released in 2006, is the fourth expansion pack for The Sims 2 base game. The expansion pack allows players to have pets. There are 75 built-in pets included with the pack. These include popular breeds of dogs and cats. Users can also create and edit the look of their pet by accessing the editor in ‘Create-a-Pet’, which is similar to the ‘Create-a-Sim’ feature of The Sims 2. In the editor, players can change the fur, color, as well as add collars and change the eyes, mouth, tail, and ears. The pet’s personality also affects the pet’s behavior.

Like Sims, the pets also have their basic needs (bladder, hunger, comfort, etc.). Players can train their pets and improve their behavior. They also have three career paths to choose from (services, showbiz, and security).

One of the characters introduced in the expansion pack is the Werewolf. Sims can interact with Werewolves during the nighttime. They can be transformed into a Werewolf, too. This can be done by interacting with a pack leader (Werewolf with glowing red eyes). Once the Sim’s relationship is high enough, the Werewolf can nibble the Sim. The werewolf’s energy increases at nighttime, but the hunger level goes down quicker.

The Sims 2: Pets does not offer a new neighborhood, but it comes with new houses and lots that can be placed in the neighborhood.
