Adobe Encore DVD

Adobe Systems, Inc. (Bundled)

Adobe Encore DVD is the former name of Adobe Encore, a DVD authoring program designed for video producers. Aside from DVDs, users can also create Blu-ray and web DVD discs. Video and audio files in various formats may be used as they are during project development; upon completion, these can be transcoded into Dolby Digital audio and MPEG-2 formats. As for the DVD menus, users can choose to create and edit these in Photoshop, another program in the Adobe Creative Suite.

Adobe Encore DVD’s features include the following:

• Create multiple discs from one project – with this tool, video producers can create not only DVDs of their movies but web DVDs and Blu-ray discs as well. Navigation options can be planned and set using flowcharts.
• Create discs quickly – users can create discs quickly because of the application’s 64-bit performance. This means that there is no lag time when opening and saving projects and the application responds to authoring commands right away.
• Background batch encoding – users can offload the transcoding tasks to Adobe Media Player or to other encoding applications to decrease tasks assigned to the DVD-making program.
• Create dual-layer DVDs – users with dual-layer burners can use this feature to increase the amount of data in a disc.

The last version of the application is the one that comes bundled with the Adobe Premier Pro CS6. Adobe will no longer develop and update the application.
