Zipper Interactive (Proprietary)

Zipper Interactive Crimson, or Crimson Skies, is a flight-based computer game set in an alternate time in US history. The game takes place in the 1930s, at a time when the primary mode of transportation is by air travel. In this game, players assume the role of Nathan Zachary, an air pirate whose goal is to rob the wealthy people of their riches and power.

As Zachary, players control different types of aircraft in different environments. There are 11 customizable planes to choose from. Players can select the aircraft’s paint scheme, armor, airframe, weapons layout, and its engine type. In the campaign mode, a player can customize a plane according to how much cash he has. The choices the player makes in terms of modification affect the aircraft’s performance in the aspects of offense, stamina, speed, and how well it can be maneuvered.

Crimson Skies offers three gaming modes: single-player campaign mode, instant action mode, and multiplayer mode. In the single-player campaign mode, players go through 24 missions. Before starting the campaign, players can choose from three levels of difficulty. The plane and ammunition type can be chosen before every mission. In the instant action mode, players can choose to join individual missions or play in a customized scenario. The multiplayer mode is possible through a direct serial connection, over a local network, or online via the Internet and the Reverb Gaming lobby.
