VIP Torrent is a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing application specifically for documents, mp3, music, videos, game downloads, and software. Peer-to-Peer file sharing uses P2P networking technology. This technology works by searching for other connected computer systems on a network. Then, it finds the desired content for sharing. The network consists in nodes (peers), which are actually end-user computers connected with each other through the Internet.

VIP Torrent uses BitTorrent, a protocol (rules for exchange of digital messages within a computer network or between networks) that supports P2P file sharing. Torrents, also known as “bittorents,” are the modern means by which users upload and download data across the Web. Small file bits are downloaded simultaneously from various Internet sources by gigabytes of bandwidth. Large media files can therefore be easily distributed to millions of users. This is why private users, like university students, love torrenting, whereas copyright authorities disapprove of the program.

The file sharing software features an intuitive interface, disk caching, low usage of CPU, mapping of auto ports, and fast app resume (the ability to quickly resume in the same condition it was when the user navigates away from the application). VIP Torrent utilizes Vuze (formerly Azureus) for rapidly transferring files through BitTorrent. Aside from downloading data associated with .torrent files, Vuze permits users to view, share, and publish original HD and DVD content.
