Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Corporation (Shareware)

Microsoft Excel is a program that allows users to create spreadsheets. It is part of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, but can also be used as a standalone application. The program comes with several tools including those for graphs, calculations, tables, analysis, charts, and many others. The program comes with several templates, which is ideal for beginners as charts and spreadsheets do not need to be done from scratch. On the application’s interface, the rows and cells have designated letters and numbers, just like a standard spreadsheet. It also allows users to use basic calculations using the letters and numbers of cells.

The application is capable of recommending charts that are ideal for the data present on the spreadsheet. Users are also able to compare the different ways data can be displayed through a visual representation. This enables users to select the best graph or chart for a particular project. Additionally, users can easily change the layout and title of charts through the formatting area.

Microsoft Excel spreadsheets can be shared with other users in different ways, such as SharePoint or SkyDrive. Other options include inviting people to view the spreadsheet, getting a sharing link and sharing it with others, emailing, presenting online, or by sending it through instant message.
