RESIDENT EVIL

Capcom (Proprietary)

Resident Evil is a survival horror video game developed by Capcom and released on March 1996. This is the first installment on the Resident Evil game series composed of game characters Jill Valentine and  Chris Redfield. At the start of the game, the player will have to choose from either of the two S.T.A.R.S. members. S.T.A.R.S. stands for Special Tactics And Rescue Service. The two venture into Raccoon City into a mansion to investigate the disappearance of their other team members. Once inside the mansion, the two discover that it is infested by flesh-chomping zombies. The game revolves on trying to discover clues to complete their mission, and at the same time, kill and prevent the zombies from taking a bite at them.

Resident Evil gameplay involves finding various documents that shed light to the mystery of the mansion. The players also stumble upon some key items from time to time, or open new areas for exploration. Both Jill and Chris have an assortment of weapons to choose from. They may carry these weapons around to defend themselves from the hordes of zombies they encounter inside the mansion. However, they quickly run out of ammunition so they have to conserve their bullets and find new ammunition sources before running out. The players also lose health when they get wounded by the zombies. This may be rectified by three types of herbs that can be mixed together in different combinations to create healing potions for different ailments. To save a current game, the player must find an ink ribbon that may be loaded on any typewriter in the mansion.
