Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines is first-person, action role-playing game created and developed by the company Troika Games, and released in November of 2004. The plot revolves around the gritty vampire gangland set in modern-day Los Angeles. The player assumes the character of a person who has died and transformed into a vampire, and encounters other creatures of the night like demons, werewolves, and other vampires. All of these creatures are trying to get their hands on the Ankaran Sarcophagus, which is an ancient artifact that is rumored to contain the remains of an ancient vampire. The player can choose to go on this mission himself/herself or be an ally of the Anarchs, Prince Sebastian LaCroix, the Kuei-Jin, or Regent Maximillian Strauss.

At the beginning of Vampire – The Masquerade Bloodlines, the player already has a choice among seven Camarilla clans to which s/he will belong. Each clan possesses a unique set of skills, which can be both advantageous and disadvantageous to a player as s/he goes on different missions. Every time a mission Is completed, the player gains experience points. Another distinctive feature of this game is the possibility of various endings depending on the circumstances of the gameplay. The player can also acquire a wide range of items including books and weapons during the course of the game.
